Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 29, 2026
Last updated: August 29, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Hoehne Labs Inc. ("Hoehne Labs," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects personal information in connection with Void (the "App") and Void's optional paid server-storage and cross-device synchronization features (the "Cloud Service").

Questions and privacy requests may be sent to nathan@hoehnelabs.com.

1. Offline use

Void can be used for free without an account or internet connection. When you use Void only offline:

  • your app data is stored locally on your device;

  • Hoehne Labs does not receive, access, or control that locally stored app data; and

  • you are responsible for securing your device and backing up or exporting your data.

Your device, operating-system provider, or backup provider may separately process device backups under its own terms and privacy policy. Hoehne Labs does not control those services.

2. The optional Cloud Service

If you create an Account and subscribe to the Cloud Service, Void may upload and process the app data associated with your Account so it can be stored on our servers and synchronized across your devices. "Account" means the online Void account associated with your email address. A "Subscription" means a paid, automatically renewing monthly or annual plan for the Cloud Service.

The Cloud Service is optional. Creating an Account or using the Cloud Service does not give Hoehne Labs access to app data that remains only on a device and has not been uploaded to the Cloud Service.

3. Information we collect

Depending on how you use Void, we may collect the following:

Account and authentication information

  • your email address;

  • a unique Account identifier;

  • email-verification status; and

  • authentication and session information needed to keep you signed in and protect your Account.

Authentication is provided by Supabase. Passwords are handled by Supabase's authentication system; Hoehne Labs does not receive or store your readable password.

Synchronized app data

If you use the Cloud Service, we process the app data you choose to create, store, or synchronize with Void. This may include time entries, timestamps, tags, notes or references, app settings, associations between records, deletion markers, synchronization versions, and similar data added by future Void features.

Subscription and payment information

We may receive information needed to administer your Subscription, such as the selected plan, currency, purchase or transaction identifier, Subscription status, renewal or expiry date, and the store or payment provider used.

Direct web payments are processed by Stripe. Purchases made in an iOS or Android app are processed by Apple or Google, respectively. Those providers process payment details under their own privacy policies. Hoehne Labs does not receive or store your full payment-card number.

Support communications

If you contact us, we collect the information you provide in your message and any records you choose to share so we can investigate and respond to your request.

Operational and security information

When you use an Account or the Cloud Service, we and our service providers may process limited technical information needed to operate, troubleshoot, and secure the service. This may include IP address, request time, device or app version, authentication events, error information, and server logs. Void does not use this information for third-party advertising or cross-context behavioural advertising.

4. How we use information

We use personal information only as reasonably necessary to:

  • create, authenticate, and maintain Accounts;

  • provide server storage and cross-device synchronization;

  • administer Subscriptions and confirm entitlement to paid features;

  • respond to support requests that you initiate;

  • maintain, troubleshoot, secure, and prevent abuse of Void and the Cloud Service;

  • enforce our Terms and Conditions and protect users, Hoehne Labs, and others;

  • comply with legal obligations and valid legal process; and

  • communicate material service, security, billing, or policy information.

Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we process information as needed to perform our contract with you, comply with law, pursue legitimate interests such as securing and improving the reliability of the service, or act with your consent. You may withdraw consent where processing is based on consent, but withdrawal does not affect processing already completed and may prevent us from providing a feature that requires the information.

5. Human access to synchronized data

Hoehne Labs does not routinely inspect the contents of your synchronized app data. Authorized human access is limited to circumstances where:

  • you ask us to access particular data to provide support;

  • access is reasonably necessary to investigate a security incident, fraud, or abuse;

  • we must comply with applicable law or valid legal process; or

  • access is reasonably necessary to protect the rights, safety, or property of you, Hoehne Labs, or another person.

Access is limited to what is reasonably necessary for the applicable purpose.

6. How we disclose information

We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising, and we do not distribute your data to others for their independent use without your explicit consent.

We may disclose information in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service providers. Supabase provides authentication, database hosting, and related cloud infrastructure; Stripe processes direct web payments; and Apple or Google processes applicable in-app purchases. These providers may process information only to provide their services to us or to you, subject to their contracts, policies, and legal obligations.

  • At your direction. We may disclose information when you ask or explicitly consent.

  • Legal and safety reasons. We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law or valid legal process, enforce our agreements, investigate fraud or security incidents, or protect rights, safety, and property.

  • Business transaction. If Hoehne Labs is involved in a merger, financing, reorganization, sale, or transfer of all or part of its business, information may be disclosed to participants under appropriate confidentiality protections and may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will require the recipient to continue protecting personal information in a manner consistent with this Policy and applicable law.

Service-provider processing for these purposes is not a sale or distribution of your data for the provider's own marketing purposes.

7. Data retention and deletion

App data stored only on your device remains there until you delete it, delete the App, erase the device, or the device or its storage fails. Hoehne Labs cannot recover locally stored data that was never uploaded to the Cloud Service.

We retain Account information and synchronized app data while your Account exists, including after a Subscription expires. Cancelling a Subscription stops future renewal and, when the paid term ends, disables Cloud Service access and synchronization. Cancellation does not delete your Account or cloud data.

You may request deletion of your Account and associated cloud data by using any deletion control made available in Void or by emailing nathan@hoehnelabs.com. We may take reasonable steps to verify that the request came from you. We will complete deletion within 90 days, except that:

  • encrypted or disaster-recovery backups may persist until they are overwritten through their normal lifecycle;

  • transaction, tax, fraud-prevention, dispute, and security records may be retained as required or permitted by law; and

  • information may be retained where necessary to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.

Deleting your Account does not automatically cancel a Subscription billed by Apple or Google. You must cancel that Subscription through the applicable store. Deleting data from the Cloud Service does not necessarily delete copies kept independently by Stripe, Apple, Google, or another provider under its own legal obligations and privacy policy.

8. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures intended to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, and disclosure. We also use service providers that maintain security controls for their systems.

No device, transmission, or storage system is completely secure. We therefore cannot guarantee that information will never be lost, accessed without authorization, or affected by an outage or security incident. You are responsible for using a strong, unique password, protecting access to your email and devices, and maintaining any backups appropriate for your needs.

9. International processing

Void is offered internationally. Hoehne Labs is based in Manitoba, Canada, and our service providers may process information in Canada, the United States, and other countries where they or their subprocessors operate. Those countries may have privacy laws different from those where you live, and lawful authorities may be able to access information under local law.

Where required, we use contractual or other recognized safeguards for international transfers.

10. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live and subject to legal exceptions, you may have the right to:

  • know whether and how we process your personal information;

  • request access to or a portable copy of your personal information;

  • correct inaccurate or incomplete information;

  • request deletion of personal information;

  • restrict or object to certain processing;

  • withdraw consent where processing is based on consent;

  • opt out of a sale or sharing of personal information; and

  • receive equal service and pricing without discrimination for exercising a privacy right.

Hoehne Labs does not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, so there is no such sale or advertising share to opt out of.

To exercise a right, email nathan@hoehnelabs.com. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. You may also have the right to appeal our response or complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or the privacy or data-protection authority where you live.

11. Children

Void is not directed to children under 13, and children under 13 may not create an Account or use the Cloud Service. If local law requires consent from a parent or guardian for a person aged 13 or older to use the Cloud Service, that person may use it only with the required authorization. If you believe a child has provided personal information contrary to this section, contact us so we can investigate and delete it where appropriate.

12. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy as Void, our service providers, or applicable laws change. We will update the date above and, when a change is material, provide reasonable notice through the App, by email, or by another appropriate method before the change takes effect where required by law.
